Solo

Thanks to his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, tenor Daniel Schmid has a broad vocal and stylistic background. His repertoire ranges from concert and lieder to opera singing and makes him a sought-after singer with expressive power.

“An entertaining, multi-coloured programme of opera and operetta, sometimes cheerful, sometimes serious, as colourful as life itself.”

Excerpt from the opera evening FIAMMA AMOROSA by Prof. Ulrike Sonntag’s singing class

Ensemble and choral singing

Daniel Schmid has dedicated himself to ensemble singing since his childhood. Thanks not least to his vocal flexibility, he has already sung in numerous and diverse choirs and formations both in Germany and internationally and is therefore always busy with renowned ensembles. Concerts have taken him to the Opera La Scala in Milan, Elbphilharmonie and Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, Concertgebouw and Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam, TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht, Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, Thomaskirche in Leipzig and Liederhalle Stuttgart, among others.

He works intensively with the SWR Vokalensemble and has also been a freelance member of the WDR Rundfunkchor since 2024. Since February 2025, he has been working in a permanent position with the Netherlands Radio Choir (Groot Omroepkoor) in Amsterdam.

Choral conducting

Thanks to his school music studies, Daniel Schmid enjoyed intensive choral and orchestral conducting training with Prof Denis Rouger, Prof Richard Wien and Prof Christian Schmid. During his studies, he began successfully conducting choirs in the Stuttgart area.

He now conducts the ministerial choirs of the State Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Social Affairs in Stuttgart.
